This is the first step in styling your home for sale. Clearing out personal items and effects doesn’t cost a lot of money, but it does take time. It is well worth the effort though! Too many mementos can be distracting for buyers when trying to imagine living in the property.
2. Deep clean
A high-pressure water cleaner – also known as a gurney – is a fabulous way to refresh outdoor surfaces. You won’t believe the difference this can make to your driveway, walls and entrance. Cleaning allows your property to be seen in the best possible light, so roll up your sleeves and get busy. Consider employing a professional to help you to remove built-up dirt and grime in the rest of the house.
3. Make it feel bigger
A fresh coat of white paint throughout the house is well worth the investment. It will not only brighten up the interior but will instantly transform the space creating a sense of space. You can also use mirrors to reflect light and make your home seem bigger. Don’t be afraid to take things away – removing large pieces of furniture gives a feeling of more floor space.

Textiles are a great way to revitalise your interiors. Opt for cushions, rugs and drapes in neutral colours to freshen up to the space. Soft furnishings can also make a space feel more inviting by adding warmth and a sense of cosiness. The good news is that these can also be taken with you when moving to your next home.
5. Add the finishing touches
Adding some indoor plans or artwork can increase the appeal of your home. It allows you to add a little personality and ensure the interior is not too sterile. A few well-thought-out pieces of décor such as books and vases go a long way towards making a home feel like a home.
