The LJ Hooker Group today announced its official partnership with Friends with Dignity, as the LJ Hooker Foundation’s third national charity beneficiary for 2022/2023.
Friends with Dignity is a volunteer-based charity that focuses on improving the quality of life for adults and children impacted by domestic violence through the provision of financial and tangible resources, programs, and scholarships.
The announcement coincides with LJ Hooker Foundation Day, which marks 94 years since LJ Hooker first opened for business (20 September 1928) on the sandy shores of Maroubra in Sydney.
LJ Hooker Group CEO, Christine Mikhael, said domestic violence has become a major health and welfare issue and the partnership with Friends with Dignity goes someway to supporting victims and creating awareness around the issue.
“Domestic and family violence is disturbingly common. It is one of the main drivers of homelessness among women, children, and men,” she said.
“This partnership aligns to our LJ Hooker Group values, that real estate isn’t about houses, it’s about people.
“It’s crucial that those affected by domestic violence can be relocated safely and have the support and goods in place that they need to feel at home. We’re looking forward to how we can contribute to exactly that.”
To commemorate the partnership, the LJ Hooker Foundation has made an initial $33,500 donation to with Friends with Dignity.
“During the balance of 2022 and throughout 2023, our network will support the partnership by fundraising and promoting Friends with Dignity’s life changing services,” Ms Mikhael said.
Friends with Dignity CEO and founder, Manuela Whitford, said they are thrilled with being selected as the chosen charity for the next year by the LJ Hooker Foundation.
“Support such as theirs helps us to fund our practical programs and along with the help of our amazing volunteers, help those impacted by domestic violence.”
The LJ Hooker Foundation is the charitable arm of the LJ Hooker and Atlas by LJ Hooker networks, and in FY22 donated over $260,000 for charities including Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis, and Lifeline. To date, the Foundation has donated more than $8.6 million to those in need.
LJ Hooker Foundation Day celebrates the generosity of the network and its shared commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
“Through the LJ Hooker Foundation, local offices and their team can engage in their communities and boost their social impact,” said Ms Mikhael.
“It gives us all a greater purpose beyond the day-to-day, while simultaneously providing much needed funds for those in need.”
